In September, The Maine Monitor will support a new correspondent based in Washington, D.C. to report on Maine’s congressional delegation and how federal actions are impacting the state.

With a nonpartisan journalist questioning congressional leaders face-to-face on behalf of Mainers, we will return local accountability reporting to the halls of Congress.

To support this initiative, we have a one-day challenge match today from long-time donors Rick and Ann Bresnahan, who will match every dollar donated in until 10 AM tomorrow up to a total of $5,000. We still need to raise $745 to meet this goal.

Will you help us meet this challenge and cast a vote for putting local journalism back in Washington?

Yes, I want to support this work!

Maine Monitor partnering with NOTUS to support D.C. correspondent covering Maine delegation

The Maine Monitor will break a long-standing trend in Maine’s news industry by supporting a D.C.-based correspondent dedicated to covering Maine’s congressional delegation.

Maine’s daily newspapers once employed D.C.-based reporters dedicated solely to covering the state’s congressional delegation. No Maine-based news outlet, however, has maintained a D.C. correspondent in more than 15 years.
