Good morning:
Voting in the primary is long over, but we’re still waiting for some key races to be called under Maine’s ranked choice voting process. You can keep track of where it all stands on our election results page.
Speaking of elections: Princeton is scheduled to hold its annual town meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 15. We’ve got a preview of the warrant, which includes 22 articles and an ordinance on whether voters want to enact an ordinance governing where certain sex offenders may live in relation to a school, a public park or an athletic field.
As we also turn our eyes to the general, everyone is watching the race between Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and Democratic challenger Graham Platner. Thanks to Maine Monitor reporter Josh Keefe, who spent days looking over Federal Election Commission filings, you can see who’s throwing money into the mix. It turns out nearly 100 billionaires and their spouses have donated to support Collins’ reelection. Read their names here. Platner? He’s pulling in many smaller-dollar donations, with a significant chunk from Maine.
Curious about what ever happened to the plan to put up wind turbines in Aroostook County? Reporter Delger Erdenesanaa has an update. Maine, which is working with four other New England states, is set to soon select winning projects for renewable energy development up north.
