Jonesport voters are set to gather Monday afternoon at Jonesport‑Beals High School, where they will consider authorizing $199,905 as the town’s matching share of a grant for the Henry Point Working Waterfront Project.

The project includes widening the public road accessing the commercial waterfront at Henry Point and the Jonesport Campground, construction of a climate-resilient parking area, and improving water access with a raised concrete and steel pier with attached floats and slips at the existing stone breakwater.

Harrington voters are also meeting on Monday, and in addition to their votes on routine expenses, they will debate a proposed ordinance that would allow solar energy for residential or personal business use within the town limits, with Planning Board approval, but would prohibit utility‑scale solar farms.

These are big decisions for these towns, and we hope that our work in recent weeks to highlight this year’s annual town meetings will inspire you to participate in your own town’s meeting this year.

We’ve compiled a list of town meetings, including in Washington County. Check it out here.

We hope that you are enjoying this newsletter. We’ll keep bringing you information about town meetings in the coming months, and encourage you to share it with family members and friends. They can sign up on our website to have it delivered to their own inbox each Saturday.
