Good morning from Bar Harbor, where the streets are as busy as they'll ever be as everyone looks to get in that last gasp of summer. The air this week was cooler, with just the slightest hint of fall.

This felt like the week of traffic impediments and big unwieldy things getting stuck in odd places. There was the giant wind turbine blade that hit a bridge in Stockton Springs, the tractor trailer that jackknifed and blocked of the one of the busiest roads on Mount Desert Island and the downed lines that stopped traffic on the Deer Isle causeway.

Thankfully no one was hurt in any of these incidents, but all three roads are the primary — and in the case of Deer Isle, the only — thoroughfare for many communities, and their closures were a reminder that sometimes you really just can't get there from here.
